Key takeaways

  • Genie ZeroOps autonomously monitors data and AI assets, detects problems, and proposes fixes.
  • Root cause detection performed on shallow data clones; fixes tested but not auto-deployed.
  • Data engineers wake up to complete problem reports and investigation without manual troubleshooting.
  • Genie ZeroOps reduces problem resolution from hours to minutes through background agent processing.
  • Conversational interface allows engineers to ask questions, provide hypotheses, and refine agent conclusions.
  • High-confidence root cause detection; agent acknowledges limitations when unable to identify root cause.

Frequently asked questions

How does Genie ZeroOps prevent unintended deployments?

Genie ZeroOps has code and network isolation and cannot deploy fixes. It generates code with full investigation reports; engineers choose whether to deploy or investigate further.

What happens when data stops appearing in a table?

ZeroOps detects the missing data, identifies the root cause (such as an upstream table), proposes a fix, tests it on cloned data, and presents the solution to the engineer.

Can engineers interact with Genie ZeroOps after receiving recommendations?

Yes, Genie ZeroOps is a full Genie interface. Engineers can ask how conclusions were reached, provide new hypotheses, and refine recommendations. The agent has memory over time.

When will Genie ZeroOps be available?

It's coming in summer and is already in small previews with select customers.

0:04All right, so we are with Bilal. Bilal, you presented us Zero Ops. Can you Can you tell us more? What's What's Zero Ops and and how can we use it? >> Yeah. I'm super excited. So, uh Zero Ops is an autonomous background agent. It's actually you can think of it as a new genie and it has like a couple of different goals. Uh it monitors your data and AI assets. It monitors your

0:27tables, your views, your ML models, uh serving. And uh what it does is it finds problems. It investigates their root causes. Actually, prioritizes problems as well. First, just so you know where to focus on. Finds the root causes and then it actually does the coding fix. But, it goes one step further and whenever it can, it creates a shallow clone of your

0:50data and it tests the fix. It does not deploy it. Nothing gets deployed. It actually cannot deploy. It has code and network isolation. So, that if you're a data engineer or ML engineer, you wake up, you find a problem It tells you the full problem report and you can All the investigation is done for you and you can choose to deploy or further investigate. So, you can think of this as as a data engineer or ML engineer,

1:12all the time you're spending today investigating problems, figuring out, "Hey, why is the model drifting? Why is the data missing?" It does all that background work for you and makes The whole idea is less time maintaining, much more time building. >> So, can we maybe take an example on on Lake Flue? Like, what would be like a typical issue you would see happening during the night and you have to you

1:34have to fix it? >> Yeah, absolutely. So, very commonly what happens is you get a call from a business stakeholder. Could be your CEO, director, whoever. And they're saying it starts with, "Hey, uh I noticed something. My data's missing. Like the you know, the line fell. What happened, right? the data stopped appearing." And then you as a data engineer have to go and say, "Okay, which job was it? Which pipeline was it?

1:57Uh which table are we using? Okay, what's the code problem? They're very typical problem, right? So, in the with Genie Zero Ops, Genie Zero Ops actually goes ahead. It will detect the problem. It'll figure out the root cause, and it'll say for example, "Oh, this this table upstream, which is, you know, not even maintained by you, it stopped receiving new data." And here's the problem. Here's the fix. So, you can go

2:20from getting that phone call to oh, I have the issue resolution. I can go figure it out. I can go solve it in literally a matter of minutes. So, it takes that hours of work and compresses it down to minutes. Uh but you're in control. Like you get to decide what to do with it. You don't have to follow its advice. >> So, you get the full the full summary of the issue, what's what the agent thinks like is wrong and what you should be fixing. Just press okay, just do it, and

2:43then >> Yeah, you can It's It's also a genie. So, you can just talk to it. Uh you can ask it like, "Hey, how did you come to this conclusion?" You can give it new hypothesis. You can say, "Actually, I think you're wrong, or did you consider this?" Uh it has memory. So, it like you remember that over time. Uh but it's a full genie. Uh the root causes detection are really good. So, it's very high confidence. If it can't find the root cause, it'll tell you, "I can't find the problem here. Uh you should go figure it

3:05out." Uh but it's actually a genie. Uh but yeah, in many cases, you can just hit the button and deploy it. You can do it from your phone. >> So, so is it available now? Or >> Oh, it's going to be available very soon. Uh look for it in the summer. Uh we're already in very small previews with some customers, but generally making it more available is coming coming soon. >> Cool. Awesome. I'm looking forward to give it a try. >> Yeah, excited.

3:29>> So, we used to say that Genie grants your wishes. Now, Genie fix your issues. >> In Lake House, life data [music] seas, Lake Flow streams to flow. Iceberg and Delta Lake, tables aglow. Unity Catalog governs Lake Base OLTP strong. Genie takes to SQL MOSAIC AND K PROLONGS. YOU sipping quid in co-hosts [music] like the fire. Data and dream scale higher and higher next

3:53gen. >> Drop it.
