Databricks Free Edition: Learn Data and AI for Free

Um back in 2017 I was still a student and I remember I started using datab bricks community edition it was called uh like this back in the time and I used it to prepare for my master degree. So uh seeing now that they are revamping this experience and increasing

1:12the number of features or products you'll be using this is just amazing and can you tell us how we can get started easily? Absolutely. Getting started is super easy. Uh all you need to do is go to datab bricks.com. You're going to find a big button on the top that says try datab bricks. You click on that and somewhere in the bottom there's a link that says uh I'm looking for the uh Databricks free edition. You click on that

1:34and you are ready to sign up. All it needs is just your uh email address and uh in about 30 seconds you're going to be in with a fully provisioned workspace ready to go. And trust me, I I did it. It can fit in a real or short. So this is just amazing. And do I need a credit card? You don't need a credit card. This is free. All free. 100% free. Free

What we really were looking forward to is enable the whole generation of students, enthusiasts, aspiring professionals, people that want to try data and AI and they want to use tools that are used by real professionals. And uh we just are giving them that for free. Uh we're giving almost every feature away. uh in in data

2:19in Databricks is available as part of the Databricks free edition and uh what we do is just we make sure that you know that's obviously limited to uh you know smaller compute sizes and things like that so you know you don't you can't uh run it on our biggest machine and with a thousand you know machine concurrency uh but you can get all kinds of uh projects and things going and pretty much

2:41anything that you can do with enterprise level uh Databricks you can experiment with and learn using the databicks free edition. And do I need to pay maybe some fees to the cloud vendors? Uh no, this is 100% serverless. So, uh all you need to do is just sign up on databicks.com. We're going to give you a workspace that is ready for you to use and uh all you

3:03need to do is just focus on your data. Write your code. Go open a notebook. Write some Python. Go open the SQL editor. Write some SQL. Go create a Genie Workspace. Go create a dashboard. Whatever it is that you need to do, you can just do directly on databicks.com. You don't need to worry about uh any cloud provider. If you have data that is on a cloud provider that you want to bring in, you can absolutely connect to that and bring in that data and use it.
